Faith vs. Hope
Hebrews 11:1”Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Faith and hope work together. Faith is now. Hope is future. Here is one way to tell if you are in faith or not. “I don’t understand why I haven’t received my healing. After all, God promised to heal me.” This is inaccurate. 1 Peter 2:24 and Mathew 8:16-17 are not promises. By His stripes we were healed. They are facts. I peter 2:24 tells us that the forgiveness of sins and the healing of the body belong to us. It is n ot what God is going tom do, it is what He has already done.
Faith is action. So many Christians struggle to believe or have faith. Their focus is wrong. Just start acting like the Word of god is true. Personally, I don’t struggle with faith or believing. God’s word is true. It is reality to me. I have God’s faith. Now, I act on it. In John 5, the man at the pool Bethesda was told to pick up his bed and walk. He acted on Jesus’ word and was healed. Act like the Word of God is true because it is true. How do it do that or what does that look like?
Start talking in line with the Word. Faith without corresponding actions is inactive. James 2:17, 26 tell us that. One minute we say God’s Word is true and the next we are contradicting everything we say we believe by our words and actions. This is merely assenting to the Word. It is a growth process of learning not how to get faith or more faith, but learning how to develop the faith given to us by Jesus.
Faith is now! Real Bible faith isn’t based on a change or circumstances or symptoms. It is based on God and His Word. Symptoms and circumstances may change, either way, but my faith is based on the finality of the Word of God. Life can be simplified. Feed on God’s Word. Become established in the heart. Hebrews 13:9”Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines. For it is a good thing that the heart be established with grace, not with meats, which have not profited them that have been occupied therein.” Become fully persuaded that God’s word is the final authority. Then, come into agreement with the Word of god by prayer and confession.
Mark 11:24”What things soever you desire, when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.” My need is met the moment I pray or decree the Word. Actually, my need is met. My pray or confession is my acting on it. Not future, but now. I have it now. I affirm God’s Word in the face of opposition. Hebrews 4:14” Seeing we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.” We act like the Word of God is true in every area of our life because it is true. God and His Word are one and He cannot fail. He is faithful to His word!
