August 2016 Teaching Letter - Give No Place to the Devil
Give No Place to the Devil
1 Corinthians 2:16
Romans 8:19, ”For the earnest expectation of the creature waits for the manifestation of the sons of God.” 2 Corinthians 3:18, ”But we all, with open face beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.” All of creation is waiting for the manifestation of the glory of the sons of God. The gospel is the glory and the power of God. The New Testament program is to preach and confirm the gospel.
2 Corinthians 4:4-7
Verse 4 In whom the god of this world has blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
Verse 5 For we preach not ourselves, but Jesus Christ the Lord; and, ourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake.
Verse 6 For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, has shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
Verse 7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.
We have a ministry of power. Where are people blinded? They are blinded in their minds and in their thoughts. The treasure of that glory of God is on the inside NOT on the outside! What hinders people from being able to see? The answer is unbelief. You cannot make people see that don’t want to see. John 1:12, ”But as many as received him, to them gave he the power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.” Believing is receiving. Believing in the fact that I see and get everything from God. What must be open? The eyes of our understanding, the mind, the thoughts. Ephesians 1:18, ”The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know……”
It is on the inside not on the outside! Christians need to stop looking for an external source. The light, the glory, the power of the gospel is already in us because we believe. In Ephesians 1:17-18 Paul prays for understanding. Ephesians 4:17, ”This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind.” Why is the mind darkened? It is darkened because of ignorance or blindness in their hearts. Ephesians 4:23, 27, ”Be renewed in the spirit of your mind. Give no place to the devil.” Understanding is illumination of the mind. Illumination of the mind is to give no place to the devil. So if I believe right, then the devil has no place.
Think right! People are looking for an outside devil, so they are looking for an outside God. When we think and live from the inside out, from the internal power source of the great and mighty Holy Spirit, then we are full and complete with God.
Verse 16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;
Verse 17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love,
Verse 18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth and height;
Verse 19 And to know the love of Christ, which passes knowledge, that we might be filled with all the fullness of God.
Verse 20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,
Verse 21 Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.
Colossians 2:9-10 (Amplified)
Verse 9 For in Him the whole fullness of Deity (the Godhead) continues to dwell in bodily form (giving complete expression of the divine nature).
Verse 10 And you are in Him, made full and having come to fullness of life (in Christ you too are filled with the Godhead – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – and reach full spiritual stature). And He is the Head of all rule and authority (of every angelic principality and power.
The devil, the devil, the devil. Where are they? They are in the minds of people. The only devil people have is in their mind. I am not saying or talking about the fact that there is not a literal devil or demons, but what I am talking about is giving place to them and walking in victory over them. Give no place to the devil. Where do I give place? The answer in is in my mind and thought life. The way a person gives place to the devil is by giving into his thoughts. There are so many theories as to how Christians give place to the devil, but it is only through an unrenewed mind.
In Matthew 16:16-19, Jesus commends Peter for his revelation of Jesus as the Christ and later rebukes him for not thinking God’s thoughts, but man’s thoughts. In Luke 8, in the case of the Gadarene demoniac, when the demons left, his mind was restored. Ephesians 3:20,”God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think according to the power that works in us.” 2 Corinthians 4:6-7, ”For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, has shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.” How am I going to use the treasure that is in me to come to the image of Christ? The answer is by using the treasure called light.
Verse 22 And he said unto his disciples, therefore I say unto you, take no thought for your life, what you shall eat; neither for the body, what you shall put on.
Verse 23 The life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment.
Verse 24 Consider the ravens for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feeds them: how much more are you better than the fowls?
Verse 25 And which of you with taking thought can add to his stature one cubit?
Verse 26 If you then be not able to do that which is least, why take thought for the rest?
Verse 27 Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
Verse 28 If then God so clothe the grass, which is today in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O you of little faith?
Verse 29 And seek not what you shall eat, or what you shall drink, neither be of a doubtful mind.
Do you see it? Take no thought! Don’t take it! Don’t have a doubtful, double mind. Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added to you. Be kingdom minded! If I have the kingdom, then I have everything! Do I have the kingdom? Romans 14:17, ”For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost.” Where is the Holy Spirit? In you! Where is the kingdom? In you! Where is the power, the joy, the peace, righteousness? In you! Then why are we asking God to give it?
Kingdom thoughts are righteous thoughts. What makes you righteous? Your thoughts do. What makes you unrighteous? Your thoughts do. Stop looking for outside forces to attack us and for outside sources to bless us because both are working from the inside out. What do I do? Change your thoughts. Seek first the kingdom. Don’t take the negative thought. In Job 3:25, Job gave place to the devil by giving place to fear that started with a thought. The fear was the thought that broke down the hedge of protection of God. Everything begins with a thought. The word of God will paint a picture or a vision in your mind. Thoughts may come as fear or fear not. Give no place to the thought of fear or anything that contradicts the Word of God.
