December 2014 Teaching Letter - Take Charge of Your Life

Romans 5:17 ”For if by one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.” Revelation 1:6””And has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.” Pressure comes from the outside. Victory comes from the inside. John 10:10”The thief comes to steal, to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” Satan comes to steal your power, your position, your possession, and your purpose. He cannot really do that. He has no legal right to do that. He just makes you think that by getting you to focus on things rather than Jesus.
There are no restrictions or limits set for your life. Mark 9:23”All things are possible to him who believes.” 1John 5:4”For whatsoever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that overcomes the world – our faith.” If I am down, weak, sick, or oppressed, I don’t have to stay there. I can get up and go forward. Philippians 4:13”I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” If you have big dreams, don’t quit because people discourage them. Blind Bartimaeus and the Syrophonecian woman both had reason and people discouraging them, yet they were not deterred from receiving from the Lord and changing their situations. Proverbs 13:12”Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but when the desire comes, it is a tree of life. Hebrews 10:23”Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.”
2Timothy 1:7”For God did not give us the spirit of fear; but of power, and love, and of a sound mind.” Back down fear! Fear is a spirit apart from being a feeling. Tell it to go! 1John 5:18”Perfect love casts out fear, because fear has torment.” There is no fear in love. People will always find fault. “It will never work. Others are doing it, or tried it and failed.” The message of the gospel of the kingdom is the authority of the believer, outreach, gifts and power. Never let a problem be an excuse to do nothing. Excuses are nails to the house of failure. People have problems so what do they do? Many cut themselves off from the life source. They stop coming to church. They stop giving. They stop doing the work of the ministry. Isaiah 45:2”I will go before you and make the crooked places straight.”
The current situation is not final. Isaiah 40:4-5”Every valley shall be exalted. And every mountain and hill brought low; the crooked places shall be made straight and the rough places smooth. The glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together; for the mouth of the Lord has spoken it.” 2Corinthians 4:18”While we look not at the things that are seen, but the things that are unseen: for the things that are seen are temporal; but the things that are unseen are eternal.” Don’t panic – be cool. Proverbs 17:27”He who has knowledge spares his words, and a man of understanding is of an excellent (cool, calm) spirit.” Don’t quit because people oppose you. Remember: critics never offer solutions. All people that accomplished great things had to overcome opposition.
Many have allowed bad things to end their life. Psalm 34:19”Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers us out of them all.” John 16:33”These things I have spoken unto you, that in me you might have peace. In the world you shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” I want to encourage you not to go all to pieces. God is not on vacation just because trouble comes. Decide to live by faith! 1John 5:5” Who is he that overcomes the world, but he that believes that Jesus is the Son of God.” I want to close with Psalm 91. The old time Pentecostals would read and meditate this Psalm for healing and in times of trouble.
Psalm 91
Verse 3 Surely he shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the perilous pestilence.
Verse 5 You shall not be afraid of the terror by night nor the arrow that flies by day,
Verse 6 Nor the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor the destruction that lays waste at noonday.
Verse 7 A thousand shall fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand, but it shall not come near you.
Verse 9 Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge, even the Most High your habitation
Verse 10 No evil shall befall you, nor shall any plague come near your dwelling place.
Verse 14 Because he has set his love upon me, therefore I will deliver him. I will set him on high, because he has known my name.
Verse 15 He shall call upon me and I will answer him. I will deliver him and honor him. I will be with him in times of trouble.
Verse 16 With long life will I satisfy him and show him my salvation.
