September 2014 Teaching Letter - Growing into the Fullness of Christ

Growing into the Fullness of Christ

Colossians 2:9-10 Amplified, “For in Him the whole fullness of Deity (the Godhead) continues to dwell in bodily form (giving complete expression of the divine nature.) And you are in Him, made full and having come to fullness of life (in Christ you too are filled with the Godhead-Father, Son and Holy Spirit—and reach full spiritual stature.) And He is the Head of all rule and authority (of every angelic principality and power).”
God has no favorites. Ephesians 2:10”For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God has before ordained that we should walk in them.”
Galatians 4:1,4.6-7
Verse 1 Now I say, that the heir, as long as he is a child, differs nothing from the servant, though he be Lord of all;
Verse 4 But when the fullness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,
Verse 6 And because you are sons, God has set forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.
Verse 7 Wherefore you are no more of servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.
We all have equal privilege and are responsible for our own growth. We are the ones that determine our rate of growth. All we have to do is to cooperate with the Word and the Spirit. Philippians 2:12-13”Wherefore my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God which works in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.” Galatians 3:28-29”There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond or free, there is neither male nor female: for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you be Christ’s, then are you Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.”
Romans 2:11”For there is no respect of persons with God.” Ephesians 6:9 and Acts 10:34 say the same thing as Romans 2:11. Matthew 8;1-3”When he was come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him. And behold a leper came and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean. And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I am willing; be clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.” God will do for and God will do through any believer that will take the limits off of Him and be a son of God. The error in the church today is attributing to the fivefold ministry greater power and authority than to the believer. They have a greater responsibility to the body of Christ, but as far as maturity, completeness, favor, power or ability-God is no respecter of persons. You will find it interesting that both Kathryn Kulhman and TL Osborne both said that they were not called to the fivefold ministry.
We must grow up. Ephesians 4:11-15” And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; for the perfecting of the saints for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we don't come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ: that we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ.” 1Thessalonians 5:23 speaks of our triune nature. “And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray your whole spirit, and soul, and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Faithful is he who calls you, who will also do it.”
We must take control. I know this makes religious people nervous. When I say we must take control I mean we must yield control to the Holy Spirit by walking in accordance with Him and the Word. Both 1 Corinthians and Philippians 2:5 tell us that we have the mind of Christ. James 1:21 tells us that the only area or part of man that needs attention is the soul. ” Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.” People in charismatic or Pentecostal circles say that your brain gets in the way. They say to turn your brain off. No! No! No! It’s the natural mind that is an enemy of God not the spirit mind.
2Corinthians 10:3-5 and Romans 12:1-2 tell us that transformation, what has already happened in the new creation, comes to manifestation by the renewing of the mind not turning your mind off. 1Peter 1:13”Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.” 2Peter 1:3-4 “To us are given exceeding great and precious promises that by these we may be partakers of the divine nature….”
I want to close with an excerpt from Dr. John G. Lake, “The Power of Divine Healing.” “There is the process of transmutation. But beloved, by the power of God’s Spirit in a man’s heart that process is going on every single day of your life. God takes that which is natural, that which is earthly, touches it by His divine power, moves upon it by His heavenly nature, and in the name of Jesus Christ you come forth no longer self and selfish, but now transformed, changed by the power of Christ, into the nature of the Son of God, into the likeness of the Lord, into His character and nature and understanding and knowledge.” God begins with our will. We must make a decision that we will grow into the fullness of Christ. Once we make that decision, He now empowers us to do so.
