June 2014 Teaching Letter - Meditate the Word
1Corinthians 2:16” …but we have the mind of Christ.” Proverbs 23:7”As a man thinks, so is he.” Romans 8:5”For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.” Matt.4:17”From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say repent for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” Jesus’ first message was to repent or the Greek word “metanoia” meaning to change your thoughts. Start thinking kingdom. If you can change your thoughts you will be focused on the kingdom.
Romans 14:17”For the kingdom of God is righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost.” Matt. 6:10”Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” Father, everything you are doing in heaven, let it happen here on earth. Matt. 6:33 “Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things will be added unto you.” The kingdom of God is established in righteousness. Matt. 5:6”Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.” This has been fulfilled, but still is our lifestyle and desire. Luke 17:21 – The kingdom of God is within you.
What makes us according to Proverbs 23:7? What we think. What makes us kingdom people? The things of the kingdom make us kingdom people. When the shepherds went to Bethlehem and announced to Mary everything that the angels told them concerning the Christ-child, Mary “kept all these things and pondered them in her heart.” Luke 2:15-20. She meditated the word. After Simon prophesied the rising and falling of many in Israel because of Jesus and Jesus was found in the temple after his parents had left and in response to Jesus that He must be about His Father’s business, Mary in verse 51 of Luke two was said to have kept all these sayings in her heart. She meditated, kept all these things persistently in her heart
Joshua 1:8”This book of the law (the Word of God) shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate therein day and night and observe to do all that is written therein; for then you shall make your way prosperous and then you shall have good success.” From this scripture we see that Information + Meditation + Application = God’s Success. Worry is negative meditation. People paint a picture that doesn’t exist. Everything begins with a thought. Interrupt the negative thought by opening your mouth and meditating or speaking the Word of God. Change it to positive meditation by meditating or thinking the Word! Psalm 1:1-3”Blessed is the man that walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor sits in the seat of the scornful, but his delight is in the law of the LORD (Word of God) and in his law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither, and whatsoever he does shall prosper.”
1Timothy 4:14-16”Neglect not the gift that was given you by prophecy and the laying on of hands; meditate on these things, give yourself entirely to them, that your progress may be evident to all. Take heed unto yourself and to the doctrine (teaching); continue in them, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you.” Our spiritual destiny is determined by a large extent to who or what we allow to influence us. 2Timothy 1:6-7”Sir up the gift of God which is in you…for God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, love and a sound mind.” The mind aids the spirit! Transformation comes by the renewing of the mind. Romans 12:1-2. Ephesians 4:23”And be renewed in the spirit of your mind.” We can look at the Old Testament patriarchs like David, Abraham, Joseph, Moses and in the New Testament to Paul, Peter and Jesus! When in a time of crisis they strengthened or encouraged themselves in the Word of the Lord. God is no respecter of persons. 1 John 4:17”As he is so are we in this world.” How is He? Glorified! Victorious! Triumphant! He is seated in the heavenlies, ever living to make intercession for us. Hebrews 7:25.
Meditate Him, His victory, His provision, protection, His life, His resurrection and our oneness with Him!!!!! Let the Holy Spirit fill your heart to overflowing with the dreams and hopes over and above all that we can ask or think. Ephesians 3:20. Meditate and think the Word!
