Your Thoughts Make You Spiritual

Proverbs 23:7. “As he ( a man ) thinks in his heart so is he, “Everything begins with a thought. Sow a thought reap an action. Sow an action reap a habit. Sow a habit reap a character. Sow a character reap a destiny. Both God and the devil begin with your thought life. Think about this. Before God can reconcile or save your spirit, He must get through to your mind first. Jesus said “Repent for the kingdom of God is at hand.” That was the exact same message of John the Baptist. Repent – metanoia – means to change your thinking in order to produce an action.

What Is Truth?

I want to share with you something I believe is of great importance to the time we are living in. In a discourse with Jesus in John 18:38, Pontius Pilate asks an astounding question that is ringing in the world and the church today and that is this; “What is truth?” In our society there is and always has been since the inception of time a battle for truth. Today, in our society, we have what is called situational ethics versus absolute truth. Situational ethics says that truth is relative, depending on the circumstances and situations, the culture, the generation, etc.

What Does Resurrection Mean To Us?

The movie “The Passion of the Christ” has been wonderfully used of God to bring both Christians and non-Christians the reality of the suffering of Jesus in our place and the great sacrifice of our Lord at the cross. Make no mistake about it, every moment of Jesus’ life including those last twelve hours were ordered by our Heavenly Father for us and all the world. The basis of our faith however, lies in the resurrection of Jesus Christ. If Jesus was not risen, then a man suffered horribly for what He believed and we are all still dead in our sins.

Warfare

“You therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No man that wars entangles himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who has chosen him to be a soldier.” 2 Timothy 2:3-4. Most Christians are offended with the idea of Christianity being warfare. However, Christianity according to the Bible is not compared to warfare, but it is WARFARE! We as Christians must be imbued with and abandoned to the war itself and the spirit of war.

Walking In The Power Of God

Every believer is expected to walk in the power of Almighty God. Most Christians cannot see themselves doing signs, wonders, and miracles. Never measure your spirituality by the amount of miracles that happen through your life. A miracle is designed to change the life of the person that needs a miracle. It is the same with healing. It is not to prove that we are men and women of God. We are men and women of God because God says that we are.

Walk As Overcomers

Christians need to “walk” in the things of God as a lifestyle rather than having to “change gears” when trouble comes. This is the difference, and you can check yourself out, between acting “religious” and “being” a Christian (like Christ). I’m not saying that we won’t experience difficulties in this life. You know better than that. Jesus said in John 16:33, “In the world you will have tribulation, but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” We have overcome by the blood of Jesus and WALK AS OVERCOMERS!

Time For Growth

We know from Ephesians 4:11-12 and 2 Corinthians 5:18-20 that all believers are ministers. My job as a pastor/leader is to see the potential in people. I believe that there are many ministry opportunities to equip others. All Christians must focus on the harvest. Many laborers working together will cause the church to grow and the kingdom to be advanced. Anything that is not growing is dying. Pastors’ greatest fear is that people will come into a building, settle in, and become nice and cozy and be satisfied with “normal” Christianity. At least that is my position as a pastor.

The Spirit-Ruled Mind

“For we walk by faith and not by sight.” 2 Corinthians 5:7. After 27 years of ministry, dealing with people, and teaching the Word of God, I have come to the conclusion that the number one problem in the church today is an unrenewed mind. Christians make life and their problems bigger than they are. They even talk themselves into defeat and despair. People (Christians) forget who they are, what they have , and what they can do, or they’ve never taken the time to renew their minds to those facts or truths. The above scripture says we walk by faith. What does that mean?

The Spirit Of Truth

“However when He, the Spirit of truth has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is of Mine and declare it to you. All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that he will take of Mine and declare it to you.” John 16:13-15. NKJV.
